About Another Choice UK
Another Choice UK is a preventative safeguarding and early-intervention programme supporting young people to recognise exploitation, coercion, harmful influences and serious youth violence, while developing safer decision-making and help-seeking skills.
Founded by Angela Nicholas, the programme draws on over 20 years of experience in education and health and social care. Sessions are interactive, trauma-informed and discussion-based, creating space for young people to explore difficult issues safely, think critically about influence and risk, and understand the choices available to them.
Alongside school-based programmes, Another Choice UK supports parents, carers and professionals with practical information, awareness and guidance.
At the heart of everything we do is prevention — helping young people recognise risk early, understand when something does not feel right, and know that there is always another choice.
A glimpse of the content the students will learn
Recognising Grooming
Students learn how gangs and individuals manipulate young people through grooming, coercion and emotional pressure.
Understanding Exploitation
Students explore how exploitation happens, including county lines recruitment and the risks associated with gang involvement.
Knowing Where to Get Help
Students learn how to recognise warning signs and understand where they can seek support if they feel unsafe or pressured.

Why Prevention Matters
Too often, conversations about exploitation, coercion, harmful influence and serious youth violence begin only after a young person is already in difficulty.
Another Choice UK takes a different approach. We believe young people should have opportunities to recognise risk, understand manipulation and explore difficult situations before they reach crisis point.
Prevention is not about frightening young people or telling them what choices to make. It is about giving them the knowledge, language and confidence to question what is happening around them, recognise when something does not feel right and understand where they can go for help.
Our sessions create space for honest, age-appropriate conversations about influence, relationships, pressure, exploitation and decision-making. Young people are encouraged to think critically, ask questions and consider the consequences of different choices without judgement.
We also recognise that prevention does not sit with young people alone. Schools, families and professionals all have a role in recognising concerns early and creating environments in which young people feel able to ask for help.
The earlier we recognise risk, open the conversation and respond, the greater the opportunity to prevent harm.

Meet The Founder
I created Another Choice UK because, through both professional experience and personal circumstances, I became increasingly aware of the complex risks facing young people today. The tragic loss of one of my students to youth violence, alongside my own son being targeted and groomed by a gang while still in Year 8, brought home just how vulnerable young people can be to exploitation, coercion and manipulation.
Those experiences strengthened my determination to develop preventative education that gives young people the knowledge, confidence and language to recognise when something is not right, question harmful influence, make safer choices and seek help before situations escalate.
With over 20 years of experience working with young people across education, health and social care and other youth-focused settings, I have seen how quickly circumstances can change when young people are navigating pressure, relationships and environments they may not fully understand.
But Another Choice UK has also grown from recognising that young people are not the only ones who need support.
When a child is being groomed, exploited or drawn into harmful situations, parents and carers can be left frightened, confused and questioning what they have missed or what they should have done differently. Sometimes shame or fear of judgement can make it even harder to ask for help.
That understanding led to the development of the Another Choice UK parent workshops — creating a space where families can access practical information, recognise warning signs, ask difficult questions and understand what they can do next, without judgement or blame.
Today, Another Choice UK brings these strands together through preventative safeguarding and early-intervention education for young people, alongside support for parents, carers, schools and professionals.
